According to an ESPN report, Russell Westbrook, the 2016-17 NBA MVP, is set to join the LA Clippers after he is bought out by the Washington Wizards. His agent, Thad Foucher, confirmed the news to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday, adding that the Clippers and Westbrook are currently finalizing the terms of the deal.

Westbrook, who is expected to earn $44.2 million in the upcoming season, will need to be traded by the Wizards or bought out in order to make the move to the Clippers. If a trade cannot be worked out, the Wizards are likely to pursue a buyout.

The 32-year-old Westbrook had a strong first season with the Wizards, averaging 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 11.7 assists per game. He now looks to bring his talents to the Clippers, where he will join a talented roster featuring the likes of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
